Primal Sport Mud

Last week in my training post, I wrote about a mysterious product that had made a significant difference in the healing of my muscle strain. Today I am going to tell you about that product, and I strongly encourage you to consider purchasing some if you have any kind of muscle/tendon/tissue injury that has been restricting you.

In the weeks leading up to the marathon, I was desperately trying to hold my training together and not let my muscle strain throw all my hard work away. I was getting to the point where I was willing to try many different alternatives to see if anything worked.....arnica, icy hot, extra Vitamin E supplements. Nothing seemed to be helping (probably because it needed some time to calm down!). Somehow it made it around the 26 miles......but it was absolute agony walking around later that day.

During the week of Thanksgiving, I could tell that my muscle strain was still very much there. Although it did not hurt when I walked (and I was taking my time off so no running), I knew in my heart it had not yet healed.

That week, my coach showed me a small sample bottle that he had been given displaying the logo "Primal Sport Mud". At first I dismissed it, pushing aside the supporting paperwork, not even reading what it had to say. A few days later it was brought up in conversation with my friend Tim (an athletic trainer). I became intrigued, and read up on Primal Sport Mud; the logic behind it seemed to make sense. I decided it was worth a try, if it did not work, I had not lost anything.

As gross as it looks, it comes right off!
I rubbed the slick, black, cream onto my leg......my skepticism returning with vengeance, covered it with paper towel and my homemade rice heat pack. As I left it to "work its magic" I thought about how I would probably have to scrub my leg red raw to get the black stain off.

After the 20 minutes, I went to the shower and turned on the hot water......the mud came right off, without even touching it....Phew! I then set about my day as normal.

As you should know by now, when I do something I commit to it 100%, so by giving the primal mud a chance, I was agreeing (internally) to use it twice a day for at least a few days. At first I did not notice a difference, but on the third day, I noticed a shocking improvement. I could no longer feel my strain, the swelling had reduced SIGNIFICANTLY, and I (am usually very critical of new products) was absolutely blown away by how well it was working.

Sold. This stuff works!

I am still using the same bottle of Primal Mud two weeks later (value for money!), and my leg is getting better each day (remember I am still running 6 miles a day on it!) I am so grateful I was able to connect with the Vice President of Primal Sport Mud, Jeff Sangalli. He has informed me of new ways to use it in the future (which I hopefully will not need to use, but realistically probably will). I have been recommending it to my athletes and running friends; especially the fast ones....like my dear friend, Frances Koons (15:34 5K) who wants to use it.

If you would like to know more about Primal Sport Mud, you can check out their website. It has lots of great information in more detail than I have gone into on this post.

I would not be recommending a product I was not 100% bought into, this is one of very few new products that I completely believe in. I hope you do not ever have to use it, but if you are suffering from Achilles problems, tendinitis, muscle issues, I am encouraging you to get some of this right now so you can get back to doing what you love!

Do you use any products that had to win you over?

Would love you to follow me:

    1. You can make this into your own mud bath! That is one of the things they recommend....if you put some into a bath, it will work in the same way as a mud bath. Like I said it comes off easy too so you do not have to worry about it staining the tub. Hopefully it is able to help you in the future.....well hopefully you do not ever need it, but if you do....it is there :)

    1. It does work, I promise I have found it really really made a difference. It is not that expensive either. I have small bottle and I have probably used it around 30 times, and it has still not run out. It is based on the idea of a thermal mud bath, I read up a lot about it and it makes sense! Hopefully it helps you too!

    1. I would 100% recommend it, and it is very inexpensive (see comment above). Other than the black color, I have no complaints!

  5. Cool! I've never heard of Sport Mud. I could live with the black if it works.
